My journey as an officiant began when my best friend of 40 years asked me to officiate his wedding. He wanted something quick and straightforward. I had one little alteration in mind: a few surprise quotes from his and his fiancée’s friends about what their love looked like from the outside.

He shrugged and said, “Why not?”

That was our lightbulb moment. The ceremony could be anything they wanted. In fact, it should be what they wanted. That experience brought home what makes this work so special: two people choosing to stand together and make their commitment official, in a way that feels like them.

Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a thousand people looking on, those moments belong to the two people saying “I do.” Helping you through them is an honor I never take for granted.
